Donna Coombs-Montrose, a community activist and history advocate who has lived in Edmonton, Alberta, for over 20 years, has significantly contributed to the City. As a founding member, she served on the board of CARIWEST – Western Carnival Development Association from 1999 to 2017, including ten years as President, focusing on highlighting the contributions of Caribbean and other diaspora immigrants. Donna is a long-standing director of the Alberta Labour History Institute. She made historical anecdotes of the Black community accessible for public research and education. In 2022, she received the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal and loves to paint.
